Happy B day Grandpa...and some awards
2007-03-23
Ok people, awards for the week are going to be a day early. Busy weekend ahead, not going to have time tomorrow. I have to go and drink and cut loose this evening to celebrate my "resurgence" and tomorrow I have an important birthday to go celebrate. On that note here is some information about the birthday, for those of you who have a sentimental bone in your body (I usually do not) you will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
On March 23 1917 the headlines in the British papers laid claim to "vast and furious victory" American papers discussed tornadoes that killed over 200 in the Midwest and successful moves made by the US sustained what was clear a coming end to a world conflict. As well in upstate NY Vincent Charles Nicosia was ushered into the world. He arrived in a war time America with several more wars to come. He served his country and served his family. Living through depression era and through industrial revolutions and technological revolutions. Radio became TV. Black and White became Color.
A father of 3 and husband to Elvira was a mentor to his children and his friends. His business sense made him a success, his kind and decent manner made him a friend to all. His life is told through the earmarks of his story he witnessed. Mans first walk on the moon, Mickey Mantle and Roger Marris's chase for home run dominance in 1961. The invention of the television, the beginning and the end of WW2 the beginning and the end of the Vietnam War and the birth of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He saw through his own eyes what true history is. His accounts of when and where he was, when all of these events that have shaped us to what and where are today are the best tribute to this mans great legacy. He served his country and he served his family. Tomorrow we celebrate not just a birthday but a legacy of a man strong enough and willing enough to evolve as the world evolved around him, a man who put family first and himself a very distant second.
Congratulations Grandpa, you have been a model husband, ideal father and hero to so many. I cannot in my life imagine what it has been like to come of age in the times you did, nor can I imagine what it took to reach the zenith level of success you achieved. You are a hero to your family, you are a mentor to me and you will forever be the standard by which I define what all men should aspire to.
Buon compleanno, ad un hero ed al mio mentor
On that note lets hand out some awards.
Call me captain obvious all you want but if you think I am going to let the commander and thief off the hook this week you're crazy and delusional. Taking the "bad negotiator" award this week yes King Bush! I would have given it to Tony Snowjob but you cannot kill the messenger. Bush offered this week for Karl Rove and Harriet Miers (no relation) for testimony. Problem is no oath, in private, no transcript and the white house gets to set the agenda. He also referred to this as a partisan fishing trip and a witch-hunt.
Listen you stupid ass lets be clear. This is not fishing or hunting this is justice. This is your main man Rove doing what he does best sacrificing his underlings to further your shameful legacy as nothing more than a chew toy for whatever big business or religious group happens to have your attention that day. Testimony under oath, in public with transcript is justice. If you or anyone working for you serving at "your" pleasure is committing the act of wrongful termination under the guise of political bias than they have broken the law. If they lie about it under oath that's how the cookie crumbles. Do not try and fool a clear thinking America into some silly proposition and do not try and protect it with executive privilege. That privilege only extends to confidential conversations held with you and if they were holding conversations with you about firing attorneys wrongfully for political bias than that implements you are involved with breaking the law and you shall be held accountable as well. Deal with it George. You brought these assholes in to build your platform and they failed you. Do you want to take the bullet for them or shall we just burn the real foes at the stake?
Coming in second this week criminal magnate himself Tom Delay. Former house Majority leader with 2 more corruption indictments over his head wrote a book. "No retreat, no surrender". In the book he rips everyone he has ever known furthering my belief this asshole has a god complex that rivals Bush and Cheney. Taking the "get to know your editors" better award Tom Delay denied ever writing that Dick Army former republican congressman (damn they do eat their own) as "drunk with power" ...On Hardball he denied denied and denied yet again. Chris Matthews read it straight from the fucking book! He handed the book to Delay and asked him to read it and De Lay claimed not to have his glasses. What the fuck? Tom just plead guilty and get the hell off the TV you're an eye sore and you stink of cheap ass gin.
Ok so I could not ignore this one at all either. The "clear as day douche" award goes to conservative radio host and hillbilly heroin kingpin Rush Limbaugh. After yesterdays classy and accountable press conference by John Edwards and his wife. Rush Limbaugh did not wait a day not even half a day to throw his cynical and useless spin on the fact John Edwards's wife's terminal cancer has returned. He surprisingly was really the only one dumb enough to talk shit (other than that winch Michelle Malkin). Rush quickly pointed out he saw this as Edwards needing a boost in a failing campaign. Rush the pure sight of you makes me sick, the fact you cannot suppress your urge to show your ass to the public by having no fucking sense of decency is truly a huge statement on what sort of fucked up and disturbing up bringing your parents allowed you to have. Be very afraid Rush of just what Karma can do for you.
Have a good weekend folks!
